As a recent transplant to Old Seminole Heights, I was excited to get involved with a community that I heard such great things about. I had been living in another area of Tampa for the past 2 years and would be told, "Well, Seminole Heights does this event..." or see in the newspapers, "Seminole Heights hosts that event..." and I just knew that this neighborhood was somewhere that I wanted to live. It was the first week after I had moved in and already, I knew more neighbors and had more fun than I have had in my lifetime!
This is the reason why so many people choose to move into, and remain, in Old Seminole Heights - the friendliness of the neighbors and the pride that so many people have for their community. So when I found out that The Neighborhood Involvement Chair was an open position, lying there, just waiting to be the springboard for the area's concerns on get-togethers and social outreach events, I wanted to help be a part of it all.
Now I am asking for you to help OSHNA and the Neighborhood Involvement Committee. I need members who would love to help plan and organize events for the neighborhood. After speaking to several members, I realize a need for events that are family focused and children-oriented. I also heard from many who would love more casual get togethers at local eateries and pubs. Still, some neighbors desire more educational events that inform and help the community. Whatever ideas you have that might help OSHNA get more neighbors involved while celebrating our unique neighborhood, should be shared by emailing me at Involved@oldseminoleheights.org. I'm looking for several fresh faces and the more seasoned neighbors, as well, to jump on board and help get the 2010/2011 events started!

Welcome to the neighborhood Thai.
The association has been moving forward this year and I think your instincts on both more children's events and adult events are spot on.
I appreciate your help with the July Eating Meeting and the Soccer event. I look forward to what you've got planned for the coming months.
