It’s Election Time!

The elections for the 2019-2020 Board of Trustees will be held on October 22, 2019 at our General Meeting. The meeting will be held at Seminole Heights United Methodist Church located at 6111 N Central Ave. Doors open at 6:30 and meeting starts at 7. Nominations will be accepted beginning on July 25th through August 31st. This year 4 trustee positions open. Each position carries a 2 year term. In order to serve on the OSHNA board in any position, you must have been a member for 12 months. In order serve in the position of President, you must have served on the Board of Trustees for one year. Each nominee will need to complete this a Nominations form and submit it to the Elections Committee. The nominees will be presented to the membership in the September edition The Advisor. River Tower Festival 2019

THE CAUSE A locally famous historic landmark, the Sulphur Springs Water Tower is more than an architectural feature in our urban core; it is a place that lives in the memories of generations of Tampa residents and visitors. The surrounding River Tower Park beautifies the neighborhood and has become a gathering spot for the community to engage with each other and with the natural beauty of our city. The iconic tower has not seen a significant renovation since it was painted 30 years ago. After the City of Tampa purchased the tower, they added lights to the base. In addition to restoring the tower, the park needs love, too. Our urban communities are organized to ensure that the tower and park stand vibrantly for generations to come. THE HISTORY At a stunning 214 feet, the Sulphur Springs Water Tower has been a part of Tampa’s history since 1927. Josiah Richardson commissioned the tower as part of his development of “Mave’s Arcade,” which included the Sulphur Springs Hotel, apartments, and indoor shopping. Greater Seminole Heights Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week May 6th – 10th! All of Seminole Heights would like to show our teachers and school staff just how much we appreciate them. Over the weeks leading up to May 6th, we will be purchasing supplies and making goodie bags for the school staff of these six Seminole Heights schools: Broward Elementary Cleveland Elementary Edison Elementary Foster Elementary Memorial Middle Seminole Elementary We’ve reached our donation goal to make this project a success; however, if you’d still like to donate for future events you can here: Additionally – for those interested, come out May 2, 6-9 pm to the SH United Methodist Church (6111 N Central Ave) to assist in “stuffing the bags”.
