At the June Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) meeting, board members voted to widen I-275 between Bearss and Hillsborough. It was not noticed or on the public agenda, and passed on an 8-7 vote. The TPO Citizens Advisory Committee opposed it 11-1 at its meeting this week.
Of the eight TPO board members who voted for the project, just one (Josh Wostal) represents Old Seminole Heights.
Four of them are not elected officials at all,
and two others are the mayors of Plant City and Temple Terrace.
We don't want our tax dollars being spent on a project that will increase noise and pollution while decreasing our property values and not actually solving traffic or congestion.
