Early Voting Has Started
Early voting is underway for the runoff election—most of us in OSH vote in District 6, which has a runoff, and all three at-large districts are also up for the runoff election.

Parks & Rec Master Plan Review & Meetings!
The long awaited Parks & Rec master plan draft is here, and the city is holding a series of workshops to discuss it. (As of this writing, the plan is not actually on the website, but we expect to show up soon here .) Meanwhile, slot one of these meetings into your schedule (we haven't gotten any word on which one will focus on our neighborhoods, but the event at Cyrus Greene will be the closest one for most of you).
Seminole Heights Flooding Relief Project Updates
Historic District residents will need to know about the water shutoff happening on Monday in the areas illustrated above.

As of yesterday, the stormwater project schedule has been updated. We are, as you are, frustrated by many of these changes and interruptions. Many of them, consistently, are due to decisions made in Tallahassee or more accurately a lack of decision-making in Tallahassee.

Note that the current best way to get to I-275 South from the west side of the neighborhood is to travel east down Idlewild, turn right on Cherokee, and follow it to go straight at the light at Hillsborough. This ensures you have a clear path across Central Avenue.

Outfall Structure and River Boulevard Area
  • The outfall is now complete except for a few punch-list items.
  • A chain will be added across the front handrail and Access for Authorized Personnel Only will be added on all sides.
  • The turf block paver driveway will be plugged with grass.
  • The cul-de-sac at the end of River Blvd is fully vacated and the damaged curb will be replaced as time allows.
300 block of Crest Avenue
  • The final lift of asphalt has been installed on all of Crest Avenue.
  • The stormwater curb inlet on the northwest corner of Crest Avenue and Highland Avenue will be replaced with a new inlet this week, with the sidewalk and ADA ramp finishing next week.
  • Highland will get its final lift of asphalt with our next asphalt mobilization.
100 and 200 blocks of Crest Avenue
  • The final lift of asphalt has been installed on all of Crest, including finishing the asphalt in the side parking lot of La Segunda Bakery.
Florida Avenue
  • All approvals have been received to finish the stormwater curb inlets on Florida. This work will take place under single lane closures on day shift. This work may need to wait until the detour on Nebraska is finished.
Frierson Avenue
  • The newly installed water main has been approved to be put into service by the Dept of Health. Water services to homes will start to be connected this week.
  • This new water main is scheduled to be tied into the City’s existing water main on Monday morning, April 24, 2023.
  • Customers may be inconvenienced in the surrounding neighborhood while tie overs occur but will receive door hangers from the project team and/or the City in advance of this occurring.
  • As soon as the new water main is tied into the existing water mains, the final stormwater curb inlets will be installed, and the road building will begin.
  • We are anticipating road building and curb installation to be started by mid to late April.
Louisiana Avenue, New Orleans Avenue and Ellicott Street
  • These roads will get the final lift of asphalt in early May with the rest of the southwest quadrant of the project.
Caracas Street West of I-275
  • The road base, curb and sidewalk are installed from the interstate to the curb inlets at Central. The last few feet of road base and sidewalk ramps will be completed over the next week and the first lift of asphalt will be installed before the end of April.
  • The final lift of asphalt and the guard rail will not be installed for some time as the contractor for the I-275 work needs to maintain access from this street.
Central Avenue south of Hillsborough Avenue
  • The first lift of asphalt has been installed from Hillsborough Avenue to Wilder Avenue.
  • A small amount of roadwork remains between Wilder Avenue and Caracas Street, which will finish up over the next three weeks.
  • Once a fiber communications box is moved on the northwest corner of the Frierson Avenue intersection, we will be able to finish the curb on the northwest corner. An existing storm inlet will have a new top poured on the southwest corner in the next couple weeks.
  • We will make final adjustments to a couple of manholes at the Giddens Avenue intersection in preparation for the final lift of asphalt.
Central Avenue north of Hillsborough Avenue
  • Work in the Comanche Avenue intersection has restarted. The contractor is finishing the modifications to a conflict structure and will then tie the new box culvert to the existing box culvert on the southwest corner. The contractor will then install the new water main through that intersection in the next couple weeks. The goal is to have that intersection opened back by mid-May, until work begins to build the new road.
  • Box culvert installation is continuing north and will be up to Henry Avenue in the next couple weeks.
Cherokee Avenue
  • The permeable pavers are complete from Clifton Street to Idlewild Avenue. The Idlewild Avenue intersection will be regraded this week and prepped for asphalt.
  • The asphalt has been installed from Clifton Street to Henry Avenue. Final grading, restoration and sod placement are currently underway.
Hanna Avenue
  • Work is scheduled to begin on Hanna Avenue in front of Seminole Elementary this summer when school is out to avoid conflicts with school programs.
Miami Avenue and Osceola Place
  • All work on Miami Avenue and Osceola is complete. The curb has been replaced to the extent called for by the City, the final lift of asphalt has been installed, and restoration and sod replacement are complete.
Caracas Street & Taliaferro Avenue East of I-275
  • The first layer of asphalt was installed at Taliaferro Avenue and Caracas Street to the laundromat.
Caracas Street East of I-275
  • Installation of the 72” storm system has begun and will continue once the storm work in the Nebraska Avenue intersection is complete.
Nebraska Avenue
  • Nebraska Avenue was shut down and detoured as scheduled on April 10 th .
  • The City’s 20” water main was shut down, cut and capped at each end of the work zone.
  • 72” reinforced concrete storm pipe installation began on April 17 th  as scheduled.
  • This work and road closure will last another five to seven weeks.
