It was this month in 1921 that the Tampa
Times
highlighted an OSHNA predecessor, the Idlewild Civic Association, representing residents who lived between Hillsborough and Sligh north-to-south and the river and Florida east-to-west. The
Times
described our neighborhood association as "wide-awake," which means—that's right, we were woke way before that meant anything.
The streets mentioned here include "Bluff Avenue," which is now known as River Terrace. If you know what "Oak Street" was, let us know! There were at least three in Tampa at one time; another one is on the other side of Old Seminole Heights, and is now known as 12th Street.
